One winter’s day, the body of a young man who plunged to his death is discovered in the grounds of a high-rise apartment building in Arakawa ward. The man is believed to have fallen from a considerable height. His face is unrecognisable and a positive identification cannot be made. Detective Yoshida Tatsuo (Terao Akira) of Arakawa Kita Police Precinct goes to the scene and sets about the investigation, but just as he starts his house-to-house enquiry within the apartment building, this time, the gruesome murdered bodies of a middle-aged couple and an old woman are discovered in unit 2025. Four dead bodies have suddenly turned up at this quiet apartment building. Naturally the four deceased are thought to be the family that lives at unit 2025. However, their age and gender do not match the details recorded in the residents registry, and the investigation squad is left confused. Furthermore, it turns out that two persons who were not residents were caught on the surveillance cameras installed in the building’s lifts at what is thought to be the estimated time of death. But there are no clues to their identities as well as ties with the victims … … At that moment the unexpected truth regarding the case is revealed by the sudden apperance of an unlikely person. Meanwhile, as the police intensify their pursuit of the killer who brutally killed four people, a man who was caught on the surveillance camera, furtively hides in a cheap hotel in Tokyo. |
