The Thai belief that wax figures shouldn't be made of people who are still alive takes center stage in horror-thriller Hong Hoon, the stylish debut effort of writer-director Kulp Kaljaruek. Based on a story that originated as a radio drama, the film stars heartthrob Ananda Everingham (The Coffin) as a man who believes a wax figure made of his sister is the cause of her troubling suicide. He eventually finds Ploy (Rattanarat Authaveekul), a woman whose recently deceased father also had a wax figure created in his likeness shortly before his death, and their respective investigations into the deaths of their loved ones lead them to the remote home of a mysterious sculptor in Petchabun province... |
