Strictly speaking, monogamy began to be widely up-held when average human life span was only about thirty years. But when things are looking up with an average life span reaching close to 80, it makes no sense to be forced into having sex with a single partner.

A typical melodrama usually involves a violation and revolt against the system and tradition where love is always pursued against the harsh circumstances that the society throws upon the lovers. While most melodramas focus on either the trendy and somewhat sensitive plots, or the exaggerated twist of a tragedy, deals with the concept of marriage through a couple's up-and-down dating relationship. This feature is unique in that it defines the societal flaws instead of hiding away from them.
