Like the two main characters in director Kang Jegyu's "Taegukgi" which hit the box office earlier this year, a once friendly pair of two brothers become estranged and bitter enemies in "My Brother" - but surely in a brighter and somewhat comic atmosphere. Portraying the conflict and reconciliation of two brothers, "My Brother" has cast Won Bin and Sin Hagyun - the former as a tough trouble-making but nevertheless comic and handsome character named Jonghyeon. Sin Hagyun plays Won Bin's his one-year-older exemplary brother Seonghyeon who is always at the top of his class. Their conflict grows deeper as their mother always compliments and favors by blood the elder brother. In this family movie directed by An Gwon-tae, the two are brothers, but have lives that are moving in different directions. From the beginning, at school, the two have a first fight over a pretty girl: Miryeong (newcomer actress Lee Boyeong). The two are suspended from school for fighting. After the fight, Seonghyeon asks for the first time that his younger brother to use honorifics when addressing him. Seonghyeon also discovers that his younger brother has held something against him as their mother has always one-sidedly loved him. The two graduate from high school with their conflicts unresolved. Finally, the elder brother enters medical college while the younger brother becomes a repeater at college entrance examination. It is the first time that the two actors meet together since they appeared at "Guns and Talks" (2001) by Jang Jin. Won Bin skillfully uses the Busan dialects in this heart-rending movie.
