Three years after his hit "Volcano High" (Hwasango, 2001), director Kim Taegyun has reappeared with a high school romance film centering around two fascinating boys' love toward one cute, unsophisticated girl. After her father dies, country-born Jeong Hangyeong (Lee Cheonga) is transferred to a high school in Seoul where her divorced mother lives. Fresh from the country, Hangyeong encounters Prince Charming Ban Haewon (Jo Hanseon). Though he is always awash with beautiful girlfriends, Haewon immediately has a crush on Hangyeong and makes a desperate attempt to woo her. The problem is that he is not alone in the competition to win her heart; he has to face another handsome, martial art-trained Jeong Taeseong (Gang Dongwon) at a high school next door. As Hangyeong is undecided after receiving temptations of the two "wolves," the comedy gradually heads toward a tear-jerking melodrama. Keeping his own secret that he cannot love her, Taeseong leaves her forever and goes to Australia. A sadder fact is that he is afflicted with an incurable disease. The screenplay, outwardly reminiscent of a comic strip story, is based on a popular on-line Internet fiction written by female writer Gwiyeoni. |
