At some point, Manato Irie (Hideaki Takizawa) began to withdraw himself from the world. Even when picked on, it' s not the real Irie, but an act. However one day he meets a strange girl - Yui Misawa (Kyoko Fukada). Yui, who finds the tedium of everyday life unbearable, teases Manato with her almost too upfront and honest manner. Alone and afraid Manato wavers but finds himself drawn to her. But his feelings for Yui are doomed to be unrequited.

What did other J -drama lovers say about the series?  Source :

1.  sweet love story [Rating: 8/10]
a few intersting scenes in this drama, like how you can become a different person when you are in love...kubozuka is quite good in this.. watch this if you are fans of Hideaki and Fukada, but this is not Hideaki's best show...i think Majo no Jouken is his best, yet!

2.  SUGOI!!! [Rating: 10/10]
I don't understand alot of japanese words and i can't read chinese so i depend on Cj Morikai (THANKS ALOT) because she wrote the sypnosis (IN FULL!! Every word each character said in each episode is written) but its only till episode 3... she haven't finish it yet however reading ep1 and 2 can tell me that S.O.S is a reall good show. I can imagine it!!!

3.  Very Enjoyable! [Rating: 8/10]
Really like this show a lot. Good acting from the leads. Chemistry between Takizawa,Fukada and Kubozuka is good. I like the mysterious atmosphere that Takizawa's narration creates. It leaves you hanging in there wanting to know what the ending is going to be like. It's very hard to tell with Jdorama as they don't always feed us with happy ending. Very recommendable even if you are not fans of the leads.

4.  I LovE it:) [Rating: 9/10]
I think this is a great show. I love it!:) it's really enjoyable and there are certain things where people can relate to, like how strong the power of love it, how it can change a person.
(Note to "eiko" - I don't understand Japanese, and I can't read much chinese either but I bought the VCD with english subtitles!)

5.  Meaningful [Rating: 6/10]
Hmm...meaningful show...despite its shallow story. It is meaningful not bcoz of the story itself, but the dialogue between the actors...which really leads u to think further and at the same time reflect upon urself. This drama would have gotten a lower rating if not for it's finale being it's saving grace. The main leads did a good job, though Yosuke seems to be trying too hard to stand out.
(note to "ana":eh...I think the last thing to do is to waych Doramas "in English"coz I really dun see how the "feelings"are to be conveyed into English.)

6.  Bravo [Rating: 10/10]
<<Strawberry on the Shortcake>> is one of the best shows I ever seen. It features how now the teenagers fell with each other and I stil can't understand , I have watched <<Hero>>which features Matsu Takako and Takuya Kimura, I was truly dissapointed as I was expecting something better than this like SOS,and whatmorever, "hero"(to me) should not be ranked as the first of this , but I must say<<Strawberry on the Shortcake>is worth it and thank god!

7.  Cute~ [Rating: 9/10]
A sweet teenage love story. Moreover, Takizawa Hideaki performed really well. As for Kyoko Fukada, she looks so 'kawaii'~ ^_^ I love the scenes where Yui and Manato are together. They look so...compatible! ^_^ It is so sweet to see Manato cares for Yui so much. ^_^ Watch this if u're into teenage love story and of course, if u're a fan of Takizawa Hideaki and Kyoko Fukada~ ^_^

8.  So so [Rating: 6/10]
I didn?t really like Kyoko Fukada?s acting, but Hideaki was pretty good. The plot is too messy. Everybody is tangled to each other.

9.  Worst drama in 2001 [Rating: 1/10]
a bad story line , if you have watched enought japanese drama , you will be watching this drama with no feelings at all .. no saddness... no happiness... no nothing . I thought it was one gd story... all the commotion in vcds shop... when i borrowed it and watched ... i can only say very disappointed.

Not Bad!Takizawa's acting skill is great, but there is still room for improvment!I think Uchiyama Rina and Yosuke each play an important part in the drama too.Hope that viewers don't left them out.Fukada is cute!

11.  a great teens love story [Rating: 9/10]
this story is suitable for all the people who enjoy love stories... plot is quite enjoyable and their roles are very distinct.I love takky's role very much and of coz, he did well in portraying it. Kyoko and Rina are both very pretty in it and yosuke is veri likable. Overall the drama touched me.

12.  It's still nice~ [Rating: 8/10]
Most people don't quite enjoy this dorama, maybe is because of the very unique storyline. Takizawa seems to be the main role while Kyoko seems more like a co-main actress. But in overall, it is still a nice dorama~ I think it has very "deep" meaning. Acrylic Plastic Acrylic Drain Dish drainer clear dish drainer
