Yasuko is a 38 year-old airline ground hostess, living a passive and stagnant life. Her sole wish
is to get by with life as smoothly as possible until retirement, having long since lost all dreams and aspirations. It was 10 years ago that the very plane which carried her best friend and stewardess, Aki, and boyfriend and pilot, Tetsuya, mysteriously disappeared off the face of the earth. After all search efforts failed, the authorities concluded that the plane had crashed into the ocean leaving no survivors. Many years passed, andmemories of the incident seemed to have faded in people’s minds. However, a theory once declared by an eccentric quantum physicist - that Flight 402 did not crash but would actually reappear in the exact shape and form of the time of its disappearance 10 years later - comes true. How would one react if people thought to be long dead suddenly reappeared before one’s very eyes? To the passengers of Flight 402, less than an hour had passed through the entire incident. The world is thrown into a wild frenzy as these passengers all materialize exactly the way they had disappeared 10 years ago. Yasuko is bewildered by the sudden presence of Aki, Tetsuya and the other passengers of Flight 402, but slowly regains her old self as she diligently attends to their immediate needs. There is a critical ending to the physicist’s theory, however. What will the passengers and their families, as well as Yasuko and her colleagues do when they come to know the truth? How will they face this difficult reality, and what will they place their faith in after having been witnesses of each other’s lives? The drama unfolds centering around Yasuko, who is now 10 years senior, and her colleagues, Aki and Tetsuya, as they and the other passengers of Flight 402 struggle to re-establish ties with the present world. This is a warm and touching story about how people facing an unjust reality choose to live on the bright side of life nevertheless.
