On a snowy Christmas morning in 1990, Fujino Ryoko (Fujino Ryoko) returns to school early and finds the body of classmate Kashiwagi buried in the snow. The case is initially dismissed as a suicide, but Ryoko receives an anonymous letter – sent by fellow classmate Miyake Juri and her best friend Matsuko – accusing that a group of school bullies led by Oide Shunji threw Kashiwagi off the school roof. The unproven accusation leads to a storm of rumors as the school and the police try to cover up the existence of the letter. Tired of the accusations and lies from both the school and the media, Ryoko and her classmates decide to find out the truth once and for all by putting Oide on a mock trial in front of the entire school body.
